What you should know about Appleby School
For up to 600 years before the first European settlers arrived in Nelson, the hub of the Waimeha Plains was the Waimeha Pa, situated between the Appleby River and the current Appleby School site. These links are still alive today as the school enjoys a close relationship with Ngati Kuia, and the land which the school sits on is owned by the iwi. The roll was quite small for many years, with only a few families represented. The dawn redwood tree in the corner of the playground was planted to commemorate the centenary of the school in 1959. The school has witnessed many changes to its management, infrastructure and environment over the years.
While embracing progress, Appleby School has maintained its standing as the focal point of the community. Today, Appleby School is a decile 9 contributing school with a roll of around Year 1 6 students
The after Board of Trustees meeting will be Tuesday 12th April at Apple by School. The school must report on individual achievement to inform parents and to support better learning in the future. We are also looking for a few people to come on board to 'shadow' people in stylish impartial roles with the plan of taking a precede in tomorrow years.
Parents caregivers of Year 1 3 students whose mid year or full year anniversary of starting school falls in Term 3 will be reported to as required by the National Standards. Years 3 4 sessions are mostly ability development with the opportunity to play games. Bulk Funding Plans The Ministry of Education is currently looking at its options regarding how schools are funding. At the first of the year the school orders class sets of stationery that are made available to the students at the start of Term 1. If you are having a clearing out things can begin being put into the container and to the swimming pool area.

All students in all classrooms go over caber safety procedures at the begin of Term 1 every year. We truly value and welcome the involvement of parents caregivers and whanau at Apple by School. There is a family feel to the school and it is common to see children of all ages and stages playing and learning together during the school day. As teacher preparation can only take place earlier and after school it is essential that they are given time without children in their room. This includes teachers, teacher aides, itinerant teachers and promote staff.
Today’s schools involve the trustees, principal, teachers, staff and community occupied closely and cooperatively together to improve learning opportunities for all children. Parents, other family and community members are maximum welcome to attend our Friday assemblies. Years 3 4 sessions are mostly aptitude development with the opportunity to play games
