What you should know about Maruia River Lodge
For Anglers who do not know the region, we would perpetual advocate hiring a professional guide. Clothing should tone in with the instinctive greens and browns of the environment and lightweight waders may be required in Spring October November as the water can be quite cold. Enjoy the challenge of walking high above the rushing waters of the Butler River. The Department of Conservation Walking Track notes are recommended for all walks and are available from the Lodge Library.
From effortless walks to adrenaline pumping adventures, in on or around the water Marcia River Lodge offers a big range of activities. It is mandatory to hold a valid Fishing license in New Zealand at all times throughout the Fly Fishing season 1st October 30th April. If you are a beginner angler without any equipment, delight let us know on making a reservation as we can arrange for equipment hire. Fly fishing from Marcia River Lodge gives you access to the superior rivers and streams in New Zealand, combined with the accurate deposit to stay. Two night’s accommodation in a Grand Deluxe Cabin overlooking the Marcia River. Our seven extravagant detached cabins, each with their own private bathroom facilities and covered balcony, overlook the gorgeous Marcia River. In order to further reduce our carbon footprint, Marcia River Lodge sources many of our ingredients from local suppliers in the Marcia Valley and Murchison District.
Honest 5 minutes drive away down river from the Lodge are the spectacular Marcia Falls formed after a major landslip triggered by the infamous 1929 Murchison Earthquake. The Lodge Restaurant can also be made into a Boardroom, with a breakout’ area in the Prohibit for tea, coffee and light refreshments. Ideally located between Christchurch Nelson, this spectacular riverside retreat prides itself on providing modern comforts, nice food made from locally sourced ingredients and delicious Fresh Zealand wines in a relaxed atmosphere. Professional guides with 4WD vehicles are available for those wishing to explore some of the many varied and difficult streams and rivers in the district.
To further diminish our need for hot water wash cycles powder whiteners even the Eco cordial products. For those wanting something a small more strenuous, the full 50 tiny walk can be done. Many stunning and intriguing walks are located within 1 hour of the Lodge, perfect for those that like to walk for 2 6 hours at a time
