What you should know about The Sea Kayak Company

Water in Tasman, Suit in Tasman, Taxi in Tasman, Boutique in Tasman

The Sea Kayak Company is a locally owned and operated by Paul and Andrea Kerwin. We are a boutique sea kayak operation ably assisted by our team of experienced guides. Our base is in Motueka the town located closest to the Abel Tasman National Park by the roundabout as you exit highway 60. The Sea Kayak Company has as its water taxi support the largest water taxi company in the national park, This provides our kayak operation with access to a fleet of 14 water taxis. The Abel Tasman National Park is New Zealand's smallest national park, established in 1942.
In the south The Park is renowned for its spectacular scenery and temperate climate. The rocky sculptural shapes of the shoreline and the sparkling sands are results of the erosion of structural granite. The distinctive golden colour of most beaches is due to the deposits of polished quartz crystals, more resistant to the process of erosion. Scenic variation within the park is striking freshwater rivers and pools, offshore islands, and stretches of golden sand are elements not found in such combination elsewhere in the country.
The park also includes the Tata Island group in the north, Tonga Island Marine Reserve, Adele and Fisherman Islands in the south. There is a long history of Maori occupation, and in more recent history European settlement. Within the park there are many sites of cultural, historical and archaeological significance. C manages a range of accommodation along the track, including four huts, 21 campsites, and the Totaranui campground

We saw some seals on Tonga Island prior we ended our kayaking in Bark Bay, where we had a picnic.
Kayak from Marahau to Onetahuti over 2 days, exit the kayak for a water taxi pickup then spend the 3rd day walking to Totaranui for a water taxi ride back. The Abel Tasman National Park is perfectly capable for introducing schools to the beauties of kayaking. We took the 3 day Enchanted Coast kayaking tour with the Sea Kayaking Company and it was awesome. Another immense time was had doing the one day Onetahuti to Anchorage paddle and walk.
00 uncatered per person one water taxi ride Lunch 15. 00 per person delight order at the time of booking. Day One We start your day with a half day’s guided paddling in the Tonga Island Marine Reserve, meeting the inquisitive NZ fur seal, then kayaking down the coast to attractive Bark Bay. Only six in our party, all the same level of experience little or none which meant we all stayed together, and had a great laugh. Plenty of kayaking, wildlife, and a good 12km trek back to the water taxi. Catch the 9 00am Water taxi to Bark Bay and discard the full day kayaking south back to Marahau.
Don’t want your time in the park to end? Depending on the weather we can change the direction of this trip and begin paddling at Onetahuti. Finishing kayaking at famous Anchorage Bay where we unite our afternoon water taxi for a merriment ride back to Marahau. Double Single 40 All kayak rentals require a minimum of 2 people and are Double kayaks. Day One Join our Tonga Island Marine Reserve Tour this includes lunch and expert guidance for your freedom kayaking on day two. Tides permitting, explore the spectacular Tonga Arches, or charming Shag Harbor, head south to Bark Bay followed by a inactive drift up Falls River
