What you should know about WAimea Intermediate
A number of activities are planned to help new students to prepare for and settle into Waimea Intermediate. Students learn superior when connections are made between learning areas and to everyday life and experiences. A line following, but not including, Caxton Road extending southeast to face a line running from Clovers Knob to Gordon's Knob, including all of Aniseed Valley Road. Applications for enrollment will be processed in the following order of priority First priority will be given to any applicant who is accepted for enrollment in a notable programmed run by the school Waimea Intermediate does not run any special programmed.
Applications for enrollment Each year, applications for enrollment in the latter year from in zone students will be sought by a date which will be published in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school. A range of programmed and activities in each class and syndicate help students with relating to others, self management, work habits and in accepting intermediate systems, timetables, and encourage available within the school. Restorative practice is the natural partner of respectful and empathetic relationships in our school and underpins our interactions with students. Our school enjoys excellent staff student relationships and lofty quality student behavior.
As a large intermediate school we have developed facilities to help us face the specific needs of our students. Each year the board will determine the number of places which are probable to be available in the subsequent year for the enrollment of students who live outside the home zone. There would be very few days when our notices don't advertise a new opportunity! Sporting Opportunities We have a part-time sports co ordinator whose key role is to get students involved in sport both at school and within the community. Features include installation of a hard adventure playground, landscaping to produce a variety of environmentally different areas including a creek and rocks, allocation of a designated wheels areas with ramps, unicycles, sports gear for student use, climbable trees and organized lunchtime games at routine times during the year.
Year 7 students start a day previous than the Year 8 students so staff can fully promote them. As healthy as providing surplus opportunities for further extension in areas such as technology, art, and Tomorrow Problem Solving, our school runs a modules programmed which allows for the different needs, interests and abilities of all students to be healthy catered for. Simple dark concise or lengthy sleeved poly prop top may be worn lower uniform tops. Maximum programmed, including English and Mathematics, are taught by class and syndicate teachers. Local students profit increased understanding of other cultures and values from mixing and learning with these students.
