Brian and Judy Gilbert are fifth generation Kiwis and have spent many years working in the hospitality industry along with many other colourful occupations! Having travelled extensively in New Zealand and internationally, we've always loved the interactions with people. With no intention of sitting still, we have created Ferntown Lodge to offer a real Kiwi experience for New Zealand and international visitors wanting peace quiet and privacy. He also has a love of driftwood and greenstone and this December 2015 opens his gallery named Drift 'n' Jade in Tukurua Rd, 10 minutes away from our homestead

Walks to Wharariki Beach an ever temporary beach with waves, sand dunes and seals. This track also gives access for exploration of the Stafford's and Ballroom Caves. Golden Bay has a comprehensive array of great things to do and places to explore. Cape Farewell Horse Treks offers some of New Zealand's superior horse trekking with a number of diverse treks including dazzling views of Cape Farewell. Golden Bay is famous for its golden sand and safe swimming and has some of the superior rivers around with deep pools and massive rocks. We have a large comfy roll away, which can be placed in two discreet positions for the fourth person.
There are many walks of varying degrees including but not limited to Te Waikoropup Springs known as Pup Springs is a concise 30 minute return track featuring New Zealands largest freshwater springs and the largest cold water springs in the southern hemisphere. Totaranui in the center of Abel Tasman National Park 50 minutes drive from Fern town Lodge has various walks and water taxis. A immense base for the countless activities and adventures offered by Golden Bay. Golden Bay has an eclectic mix of ca s such as The Naked Possum, Russell Inn, Courthouse Ca, dinky's Tavern, Wholemeal Ca and many more.
